BASE CAMP TRAVERSE

3-4 hours hike time | Difficulty: Beginner - Intermediate | Distance: 7km | Terrain: mostly rocky lava flows
Starting elevation 2,400m | Peak elevation 2,500m | Ending elevation 1,450m

Descend almost 1,000m on volcanic lava flows while taking in views of the mammoth Hoei crater as you traverse from Fuji's highest base camp to its lowest. This one-way trek will take you through the Magic Gardens--an area of pristine shrubs and volcanic rock, and then up the summit Mt. Fuji's 4th highest peak at 1,804m.
