At FMG, we operate on (arguably) the most iconic mountain in the world – guiding climbers on Mt. Fuji and helping people from around the globe experience Japan’s highest and most famous mountain.

Our staff are people who love the outdoors, enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds, and aren’t afraid to work hard. Guiding Mt. Fuji means early mornings, changing weather, long days on the mountain, and working closely with a small, dynamic team to deliver a safe and memorable experience for our guests.

FMG is also a great place to progress your guiding career. With a busy season and a wide variety of guests from all over the world, guides gain extensive experience managing groups, making decisions in changing mountain conditions, and developing their leadership and client-management skills. For aspiring ACMG, AMGA, IFMGA and other professional guides, a season with FMG can be an excellent stepping stone toward more technical guiding.

We’re looking for people who are passionate about the mountains, Japanese culture, hospitality, and teamwork. Previous guiding experience is valuable, but just as important are good judgment, strong soft skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

Our main Mt. Fuji season runs from mid June through mid September, with training beginning in June and some full-season positions extending into October.
