Mountain Hut Accommodation above 3,000 meters

Mountain huts on Mt. Fuji were originally built as emergency shelters and exist to this day as shelters from harsh mountain conditions. Our hut offers simple dorm style accommodation. Because the mission of huts on Mt. Fuji is to provide safety and shelter to as many hikers as possible, it is not possible to pay for extra space. The mountain hut will provide the essential shelter and food you need to reach Mt. Fuji's summit.

It is important to note that huts on Mt. Fuji, including this hut, do not provide a heated dry room for drying out wet gear. Be sure to climb with spare, dry clothes kept in dry bags so you will have a change of clothes in the event you show up at the mountain hut in wet weather.

Mt. Fuji mountain huts offer a fantastic cultural experience unique to Mt. Fuji and are a great way of meeting fellow climbers, exchanging stories, and experiencing camaraderie that you will never find in a five star hotel.

For dinner, the Akaiwa Hachigokan mountain hut serves a delicious Japanese curry using vegetables farmed at the base of Mt. Fuji. And it's not just one bowl, it's all you can eat! While there isn't a vegetarian option, if you let us know in advance, your guide can carry up vegetarian or vegan curry packs.

Your final meal on Mt. Fuji is also provided by Akaiwa Hachigokan - a scrumptious breakfast of eggs, ham, rice, and miso soup served after our return from the summit. The hot food is a welcome respite from the cold summit and makes your Fuji experience even more Japanese.

You will need snacks to munch on throughout the day. While you can buy snacks at the mountain huts, purchasing them in advance is the more cost-effective and reliable option. We suggest bringing crackers, candy bars, jerky, chips, cookies, trail mix, fruit, energy bars, and hard candies. Include some salty snacks to replenish lost salts.
