The health and safety of our guests, our guides and the local communities we interact with is our top priority. In response to COVID-19 we will be implementing a set of new protocols and procedures as we endeavor to provide a safe and healthy environment for everyone involved on our Mt. Fuji trips.
The below operating procedures may be altered or updated based on any new guidance pertaining to helpful COVID-19 mitigation processes. These procedures will be carried out until further notice.
COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols
Smaller group sizes
FMG will be reducing the maximum capacity of our group trip sizes by 45%. This will create more space in vehicles and allow each group to spread out more during our mountain hut stay.
30% of Seats Empty on Buses
By ensuring 30% of seats on our bus are empty, passengers and guides will be given more adequate space and distance from each other during our transit to and from Mt. Fuji. All groups will be separated with empty seats as much as possible. The vehicle boarding and unloading process will be supervised by an FMG trip leader; please cooperate with the seating arrangements and boarding process outlined by your guide.
Face coverings
All guests, guides and drivers are required to wear a face covering or mask for the entire duration of the bus/van ride to Mt. Fuji and return ride back to Tokyo. Guests without a proper face covering will not be permitted on our bus/van. Face coverings are also required while inside any mountain hut along the way, in crowded spaces and/or locations with poor ventilation.
Sanitized vehicles and advanced ventilation systems
In all of our vehicles, high-touch surfaces are sanitized frequently during the trip, and the entire vehicle gets thoroughly cleaned between groups. Our private buses operate with advanced ventilation systems replacing the air within the vehicle every 5 minutes.
Social distancing
In following with one of our standard practices on Mt. Fuji, guests are given the freedom to hike at their own pace, thus establishing safe social distancing among our tour guests. Where it is necessary that the group climbs together at the same pace, guests are to maintain adequate spacing amongst each other whenever possible.
Frequent hand sanitizing
All of our vehicles will come supplied with easily accessible hand sanitizer. All of our guides and guests will be required to sanitize their hands before entering the vehicle.
Contact tracing
If FMG is informed that a member of a tour tested positive for COVID-19, all members of this particular tour will be contacted and notified. The identity of the individual will not be revealed.
