Day 2-3: Exploration and feasting at the foothills of Mt. Fuji
Now that you've conquered Japan's highest peak, you deserve a feast. Hosted by our partners at Satoyama Vacation, enjoy a farm-to-table barbecue with locally sourced vegetables and meat. The surrounding area is blessed with high quality spring water and is used in producing some superb sake and beer, available upon request. At night, give yourself a pat on the back as you gaze up at the mountain you've just summited. Accommodation is at a cozy, high-end Glamping resort. Begin your final day with a short 5 minute drive or 20 min walk to the captivating Shiraito Falls. Then hop on an E-bike and explore the culture, cuisine and charming scenery of a quintessential Japanese village. The trip ends in the afternoon with a drop off at the nearest bullet train station, Shin Fuji. |
Akaiwa Hachigo mountain hut is located at 3,300 meters at the 8th Station. This mountain hut is located approximately 2 hours from the summit of Mt. Fuji and marks the final crux on the trail to Japan's highest point.
Huts on Mt. Fuji were originally built as shelter from harsh mountain conditions and offer simple dorm style accommodation. Accommodations consist of a bunk, bedding, sleeping bag and pillow all in the Japanese style. From summer 2021 guests are each afforded 1 tatami mat worth of space, an upgrade from the previous conditions. However, there will still be multiple climbing parties sleeping in the same room. Eye masks, as well as ear plugs come highly recommended and are provided by FMG. These huts offer a fantastic cultural experience unique to Mt. Fuji and are a great way of meeting fellow climbers, exchanging stories, and experiencing camaraderie that you will never find in a five star hotel. |
