Yoshida Trail

THE KAMAIWAKAN HUT

2,790M / 9,153FT

Kamaiwakan is located at 2,790 meters at the 7th station on the Yoshida Trail. Kamaiwakan was rebuilt in 2016 and is the newest hut on Mt. Fuji. The mountain hut is about two to three hours hiking from the Subaru Line 5th Station.
Mountain huts on Mt. Fuji were originally built as emergency shelters and exist to this day as shelters from harsh mountain conditions. All huts offer simple dorm style accommodation, with many huts now also offering private capsules and private rooms. New for 2023 Kamaiwakan is taking reservations for its private capsule (1-2 people per capsule) and private room (1-4 people per room). All reservations at Kamaiwakan will include dinner, a futon, sleeping and pillow.

It is important to note that huts on Mt. Fuji, including Kamaiwakan, do not provide a heated dry room for drying out wet gear. It is important to climb with spare, dry clothes kept in dry bags so you will have a change of clothes in the event you are to show up at the mountain hut in wet weather.

Sleeping Quarters

Choose from three separate room types: Dormitory, Private Capsule (1-2 people) and Private Room (1-4 people)
  • Dormitories have an upper and lower level with sleeping bags lined up on mats and are separated by curtains.
  • Private capsules (1-2 people) are separated by walls on either side and a curtain in the front. Capsules are reserved per capsule and can be booked by 1 or 2 people.
  • Private rooms (1-4 people) have a locking door, with an upper and lower level sleeping 2 people on top and 2 on the bottom. Private rooms are available to book from 1-4 people.
  • All rooms are equipped with futon mats, sleeping bags, pillows and an outlet for charging your electronics.
  • Going to the bathroom can be a challenge climbing down the bunk bed ladders. Be careful!
  • We recommend bringing ear plugs.
