YOSHIDA TRAIL INFORMATION

The Yoshida Trail is the most popular trail on Mt. Fuji, due to the abundance of mountain huts and easy access from Tokyo. With two separate first aid stations as well as the frequent ability to purchase water, snacks and food, the Yoshida trail is commonly described as the 'beginners trail'. Just as often, the 'beginners trail' description is misinterpreted, leaving many climbers baffled at the difficult task they have committed to. There is no 'easy' route up Mt. Fuji. But hey, where's the fun in climbing the highest mountain in Japan, without a bit of a challenge :)

If you are looking for a less crowded experience of Mt. Fuji, try the Subashiri Trail.

Access

From Tokyo, the Yoshida trail is most commonly accessed via the Subaru Line 5th Station. There are buses departing from Shinjuku station, which lead directly to the Subaru Line 5th station.

The Yoshida trail is also near the popular towns of Kawaguchiko and Fuji Yoshida. The JR Kawaguchiko train station accesses the Subaru line 5th station by a climbers bus. The Yoshida trail starts at the base of Mt. Fuji, beginning at the Sengen shrine in Fuji Yoshida. The majority of the "trail" starting at Sengen shrine is paved road. For climbers interested in starting at the base of Mt. Fuji, a more common approach is from the trail head, Umagaeshi. This begins just below the Yoshida first station and is also accessed by car or public bus.

Reserve a hut on the Yoshida Trail
