The Subashiri trail is less crowded and more local than the Yoshida Trail. It also boasts the highest tree line of any trail on Mt. Fuji and protects hikers from the sun until about 2,700 m / 8,858 ft. Away from the crowds of the Yoshida Trail,  the Subashiri Trail is a hidden gem.

Access

From Tokyo, the Subashiri Trail is accessed from the Subashiri 5th Station. When traveling from Tokyo by public transportation, head to JR Gotenba Train Station and transfer to the Climbers’ Bus bound for Subashiri 5th Station. Note that the climbers bus is only operated between July 10 - September 10. If you are climbing the Subashiri trail outside of this period you will either need to drive your own vehicle to the Subashiri 5th station, or hire a taxi to take you there. 

If you are visiting to/from Hakone, the Subashiri Trail can be easily accessed via JR Gotenba Station as well. Hakone is only a 30-60 minute bus ride away, depending on your destination within Hakone.

Partnership

Fuji Mountain Guides is partnered with Higashi Fuji Sanso, a mountain hut located at the Subashiri Trailhead. It will be marked with a blue covering and Fuji Mountain Guides flag.

In conjunction with our partnership, Higashi Fuji Sanso is offering a ¥100 discount off their Mt. Fuji hiking stick for guests that have utilized the FMG hut reservation service. Please show them a screen shot or print out of your hut reservation to receive this benefit.

Off Season 2 Day Tour
