SUBASHIRI TRAIL INFORMATION

The Subashiri trail is less crowded and more local than the Yoshida Trail. It also boasts the highest tree line of any trail on Mt. Fuji and protects hikers from the sun until about 2,700 m / 8,858 ft. Away from the crowds of the Yoshida Trail,  the Subashiri Trail is a hidden gem.

Access

From Tokyo, the Subashiri Trail is accessed from the Subashiri 5th Station. When traveling from Tokyo by public transportation, head to JR Gotenba Train Station and transfer to the Climbers’ Bus bound for Subashiri 5th Station.

If you are visiting to/from Hakone, the Subashiri Trail can be easily accessed via JR Gotenba Station as well. Hakone is only a 30-60 minute bus ride away, depending on your destination within Hakone.

Partnership

Fuji Mountain Guides is partnered with Higashi Fuji Sanso, a mountain hut located at the Subashiri Trailhead. It will be marked with a blue covering and Fuji Mountain Guides flag.

All our tour guests as well as people who use our hut reservation system can benefit from the partnership. Higashi Fuji Sanso is offering free use of their restrooms (usually ¥200), ¥100 off their hiking sticks, and free use of their rest area. Please show them a screenshot or print out of your tour booking or hut reservation to receive these benefits.

Reserve a hut on the Subashiri Trail

  • Fujisan Hotel Hut - Original 8th station 3,400m / 11,154ft
